News on the 'River Kennet' from Will Carter ( author of 'When all else fails' in the January edition of
Course Angling)
The River Kennet has been in flood recently with many stretches breaking it's banks and spreading over tracks and fields. The mild weather although wet has meant that water temperatures had risen to an impressive 50+ degrees resulting in the Barbel
feeding well when you could get to them. In the last week, January 21st till
28th, the water level has dropped about a foot and water temperatures have dropped to
about 45 degrees but there is more heavy rain forecast for the coming week. The fish are still feeding although an after dark
approach will probably pay better dividends at the moment.
